Rise and Dine

Where To: Breakfast

A topic always up for debate… Where to have breakfast on James St?  Choosing is hard, so here’s a list of our go-to breakfast options. You’ll find our latest breakfast brief here.

Lobby Bar

Cuisine: Continental

Must Have: Tiramisu French Toast. Need we say more?

Fresh Fact: The menu is infused with the freshest ingredients harvested directly from The Calile Hotel’s rooftop garden – just look for the green leaf on the menu!

Quench

Cuisine: Healthy, fruity, juicy

Must Have: Heat Quencher – because sometimes all you need is a fresh juice and this one is made from orange, apple, pineapple and passionfruit.

Fresh Fact: The Açai smoothies are also our go-to, alongside a fresh assortment of wraps and sandwiches.  This is the spot for on-the-go quick and fresh take-away.

King Arthur

Cuisine: Local and sustainable

Must Have: Eggs Your Way. Perfectly folded eggs, eggry single time.

Fresh Fact: When they say Thick Cut Bacon, they aren’t kidding. Be warned, be satisfied.

Jocelyn’s Provisions

Cuisine: Gourmet provisions

Must Have: The Bacon Savoury Cup is our favourite brekkie in a hurry. Grab, demolish, go.

Fresh Fact: All goodies found in Jocelyn’s Provisions are made with real ingredients, no artificial additives here – and baked on site at Albion Fine Trades. Local is best.

Harveys Bar and Bistro

Cuisine: Fresh and contemporary

Must Have: Ricotta Buttermilk Pancakes with Caramelised Banana. Don’t hold back, add that bacon.

Fresh Fact: Harveys is an institution and the go-to spot for James St locals for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between.

Hellenika

Cuisine: Greek

Must Have: Sardines on Toast. We know what you’re thinking… but try it. Trust us.

Fresh Fact: Hellenika has a dedicated breakfast cocktail menu. We recommend swapping that freshly pressed OJ for the Breakfast in Bed, which includes orange marmalade and lemon and toast – a must try.

The Green

Cuisine: Middle Eastern

Must Have: Manoushe topped with avocado. Manoushe is a crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, Lebanese flat bread. A crowd favourite!

Fresh Fact: Bask in the sunshine, surrounded by plants and plant accessories all available for purchase. Home decor inspo for plant parents found here.

Cantinho

Cuisine: Greek

Must Have: Bacon and egg burger (with a hashbrown, obviously).

Fresh Fact: Greek at its heart but with an extensive menu – many of the items on the Cantinho menu are home grown and handmade.

Agnes Bakery

Cuisine: Wood fired baked goods

Must Have: Carrot Cake. If you don’t think cake counts as breakfast, we guarantee this will change your mind.

Fresh Fact: The bakery is located in a heritage listed cottage and you will smell the wood smoke from the ovens before you arrive.
