Who’s Coming to James St?

Dining at a restaurant for the first time, is one of life’s joys. Whether it be the first menu glance, the first taste, the first sip or the first review with fellow dinner guests. Such firsts will be occurring three times over on James St in the coming months with BIÁNCA, Essa Restaurant and Wine Bar and Gemelli Italian set to open.

Pull-up a seat, as we spill the beans on what to expect and when.

 

BIÁNCA

Where: 46 James St (next door to EdwardsAndCo)

Opening: March

BIÁNCA by Ty Simon and Bianca Marchi (hello inspiration for name), is the Italian sister venue of sAme sAme. Bianca Marchi has a rich Italian heritage and the menu promises to pay homage this, with everyday eats (yes, pasta can be consumed daily), antipasti and great wine. Like its sibling, the restaurant’s interior and exterior has been designed by acclaimed architects Richards & Spence, so guests can expect both a feast for the stomach and eyes.

 

Essa Restaurant and Wine Bar

Where: 181 Robertson St

Opening: Soon

From the masterminds of Gourmet Traveller’s Top 50 revered restaurant, Gauge, Essa Restaurant and Wine Bar, is the latest brainchild of Jerome Batten and Phil Marchant. Housed next door to Libertine Parfumerie (pictured below) the moody interior will set the scene for the senses. A place for lingering and sharing, diners will have a encyclopaedic wine and cocktail list to choose from and savour share plates of seafood, wood-fired delights and charcuterie made in-house.

 

Gemelli Italian

Where: 11/15 James St (formerly Bucci Restaurant and Lululemon)

Opening: Mid-year

Heralding from the Gold Coast’s Broadbeach, champions of rustic-Italian cuisine, Gemelli Italian are expanding to James St. The restaurant and sister bar venue will be situated in two neighbouring locations. The restaurant, on the corner of James and McLachlan Streets, will serve their much-loved wood-fired pizza and house-made pasta, while the bar in the former Bucci Restaurant, will serve spritzes, Italian wine, charcuterie and an abundance of Italian flare.
