Where are you Winter?!

Is it just us? Or is winter taking its sweet-ass time this year? Brisbane has been teetering on a lukewarm low of 19 degrees for the larger part of April. Whilst you’re itching to reach for that 100% wool pea coat you bought at the tail end of winter last year, it just ain’t cold enough yet. We’re breaking a sweat just thinking about it. However, the days are getting shorter and nights longer, so we’ve compiled a few deliciously on-trend trans-seasonal essentials that will quickly become the foundations of your everyday get-up, that will also get you through the chilly months yet to arrive.

1. A statement belt.

The Post & Co. Nicky belt is stocked exclusively at Calexico. This double buckle masterpiece will tie together any outfit. Wear it with your distressed boyfriends, a knit and sneakers for Sunday breaky, or with a pair of leathers and pumps for Friday knock-offs.

2. The perfect silk top.

Show off your décolletage with the off-the-shoulder silk blouse from Samantha Ogilvie. The reveal of a bare shoulder is the chic new way to show a little skin as the temp cools down. Pair it with a pair of denim cut offs, tuck into a wrap skirt or over a pair of cropped trousers and strappy heels.

3. A turtleneck.

A turtleneck. You may ask, really? Like a skivvy? YES! Just like a skivvy! When executed correctly, a classic black neck sweater can be your new go-to. Wear it with a high-waisted skirt or wide leg pants, or under your favourite silk summer slip dress with a pair of boots. Make sure it’s the right fit, and stick do darker colours. We’re obsessed with this black baby-wool number from Scanlan Theodore.

4. Something Olive.

So, olive is the colour of the “trans-season”, and we couldn’t be happier about it. Introducing the soft trench! Colour, length, drape… Witchery have nailed it here. Layer with the aforementioned turtleneck and leather pencil skirt (Kimmy K style), or just over your tee, denims and sneakers on those crisper mornings.

4. A pair of culottes.

The culotte. Are they a long or short pant? Who knows, who really cares, they’re fabulous and Samantha Ogilvie is stocking them in SEQUIN BURGUNDY. Get a head start on autumn with a bit of muted red. HOT TIP: Wear them to a boozy lunch – won’t have to worry about those nasty red wine spillages when your pants match your drink. Did someone say wine PS?

5. Black leather boots.

Italian leather: Tick. Patchwork: Tick. Comfort?: TICK! ZOMP is stocking these Elena Iachi dreamboats in leather, black suede & tan suede. These babies encompass the epitome of this seasons on-trend boot, and literally go with anything. Get them in your closet, stat.

6. Activewear (that’s not so active).

A trans-seasonal style report isn’t complete without the latest in activewear. New to Tyson and Peppa is active/street wear label P.E Nation, and we are itching to get our hands on one of these reversible, I repeat, reversible, bomber jacket. It has some serious 80s retro ski suit vibes, am I right!?
