Tips and tricks...

Meet the Pottery Barn Design Crew – your complimentary interior design specialists!

When it comes to styling a home or apartment it can often be overwhelming, especially with such a wide range of furniture and décor, that can be found at Pottery Barn.

To help with the design process Pottery Barn have enlisted their ‘Design Crew’ – a complimentary service aimed at putting the fun and ease into refreshing your living space. We chatted with the James St Design Crew to learn more about the service and their tips and tricks for the season ahead.

We’ve heard Pottery Barn offers a complimentary interior designer service called ‘Design Crew’, what can customers expect?

Customers across all three brands have access to our Design Crew service, you just have to book-in! They can enjoy an in-store or at home consultation.

The customer will be presented with ideas based on their style, space and needs, we can bring floor layout plans and samples for rug and couch materials, from there we discuss what products would best fit the space. Our associates can also help customers place orders and walk them through the delivery and assembly process.

What is your key styling tip for people wanting to refresh their living spaces this winter?

The key styling tip for people wanting to refresh their living space for winter is to bring a serene and cosy vibe to your space by layering shades of the season’s must-have hue ‘blue’ with our warm and cosy new throws. This is a quick way to change the feel of a room without having to start over

Pottery Barn has an array of beautiful furniture and décor, what is one item that is worth investing in?

Of all the beautiful furniture we have available we believe a dining table is one item worth investing in, we have so many options that allow our customer to choose the perfect one. We sell small round tables that extend to seat 6-8 and on the other end of the scale, large rectangular tables that seat up to 12. They are extremely well built and the mechanism that has been used allows for a very smooth movement when extending the table, perfect for those smaller space homes in an apartment.

Neighbouring Pottery Barn is Pottery Barn Kids, which sells an array of toys, bedroom settings, bed linen and rugs all to create a cheerful space. When styling a nursery, what are three things you recommend for first time parents from your extensive range?

At Pottery Barn Kids we also offer free in-home design services for those first time parents who are a little nervous about what to expect. Our Design Crew will happily make a complimentary trip to your home, or even book you in store for an appointment.

First-time parents have the opportunity to buy 100% organic items from our store, our first top essential would be our organic cot mattress. Secondly, our new season organic safari cot bedding looks adorable and sets the colour palette for the room. Our top 3 picks would be one of our beautiful nursing chairs for those long nights with bub!

You have a wonderful abundance of beautiful children’s décor and furniture, what would be the perfect gift to take to a baby shower?

We get asked this question so regularly the whole team now have their own go-to items that they know will be a winner. First of all, if you’re looking for something sentimental we do beautiful ceramic money boxes that will look cute in any nursery. If you want to purchase something more practical, then our swaddle sets are a great gift for new parents.

With the current popular trend of clothing and accessories, you also offer on sight monogramming at Pottery Barn Kids, what products can shoppers personalise?

Monogramming is such an amazing way to add that personalised touch to an item or to decorate the bedroom or nursery. We can monogram anything from a quilt to a school bag for the kids. We have a selection of different coloured thread and fonts, we will also personalise any products bought at West Elm or Pottery Barn.
