Market Day of James Street Food & Wine Trail (JSFWT) on Sunday 28 July will see the largest street closure to date. Previously occupying McLachlan to Doggett Street’s, this year’s event will expand to Arthur Street, from Bucci to Sixes And Sevens, to make way for four new market stalls from James Street’s newest additions, Hellenika, Lobby Bar, Gelato Messina and Mosconi who are thrilled to be involved in their first-ever Market Day.
Mosconi’s Head Chef Catherine Anders said “as newcomers to the James Street food community, we are so excited to be involved in this year’s JSFWT! We will be dishing up one of our signature dishes – the Duck Ragù. It will be sure to warm you up on the day.”
All menu offerings by James Street’s finest chefs and providers are now available, from Calzone Rosso by Jocelyn’s Provisions to Bucci’s legendary Arancini (and Aperol Spritz!) and Freshly Shucked Oysters by FreshFishCo plus Manousheh by Gerard’s Bistro. “We have a great offering from Gerard’s Bistro and Gerard’s Bar for Market Day, but becoming part of a community of amazing restaurants, cafes and retailers is something very special for me” said newly appointed Head Chef of Gerard’s Bistro Adam Wolfers.
Exclusive to Market Day, co-created delights by Gelato Messina and Hellenika featuring Baklava Gelato Sundae and Loukoumades Gelato Sliders will also be on offer at Gelato Messina’s market stall. Dontato Toce, Head Chef and Co-Owner of Gelato Messina said “We’re very happy to be taking part in our first ever Market Day and to be working on an exciting dessert collaboration with our friends at Hellenika. It’s a great opportunity for us to bring our custom dessert creations to the people of Fortitude Valley”
The days leading up to Market Day from Thursday 25 July will be just as delicious – Trail Days are perfect for culinary connoisseurs who prefer intimate dining experiences such as Wine Meats Cheese at Gerard’s Bar, A Hellenic Delight at Hellenika, Duck Dinner at Chow House, and A Taste of Winter with King Arthur Cafe – each venue is now taking bookings! JSFWT Signature Series will also return in 2019, available in-venue all days, diners can opt for the chef’s recommendation aka pairings such as Pork Cheek, Burnt Cabbage and Fermented Apples Sauce with a glass of Red Cider or Natural Wine at King Arthur Cafe or Baklava Waffles and Coffee at laneway favourite Cantinho to name just a few.
