Let’s take it back 60 years… It’s 1956, and designers Charles and Ray Eames have just redefined ‘modern living’ with the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. It’s the first chair that the Eameses have designed for a high-end market, and it soon becomes one of the most widely recognised (and copied) designs of the modern era. In fact, their design was so revolutionary, that it in 1960, examples of the furnishings were added to a permanent collection in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
Jumping forward to 2016 this design still remains the original symbol of luxurious comfort and unmistakable style. The hand-assembled Eames Lounge is composed of three curved plywood shells: a headrest, backrest and seat. It is balanced on a five-star, die-cast aluminum base with a built-in swivel mechanism. The luxurious soft leather cushions are individually upholstered and easily replaceable.
To celebrate the Eames Lounge and Ottoman 60th year anniversary, Living Edge on James Street is running an exclusive promotion throughout September where these classic designs will be available at special prices!
