What's On

James St Weekly | Thursday 9 April

Dear James St readers, our community of creatives, entrepreneurs and makers are continuing to reimagine their day-to-day operations and offerings, to cater for our neighbourhood with a new approach. Stay informed on the latest below.

Stay Again Soon  The Calile Hotel has announced a temporary closure. Like all in our neighbourhood, the wellbeing of guests, employees and the James St community has been their top priority during this time and so, for now, they are taking the time to pause. Like so many members of the James St family, we look forward to stepping through The Calile’s arches in the near future. In the meantime, keep the dream of a future break alive by following @TheCalileHotel on social media.

The Adapters — In the same way, the James St food scene has adapted with gourmet takeaway and delivery services, the fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailers have also adapted to the current regulations with one-on-one appointmentse-boutiques and door-to-door services. Local designer and trailblazer, Gail Sorronda, has taken creativity to the next level with her latest accessory – the Serious Flowers Face Mask available in black and white. Learn more.

Gourmet Takeaway — This week saw the re-opening of Tinderbox Kitchen, who are now serving their fan favourite wood fire pizzas and Asian Chicken Salad by sister venue Harveys Bar + Bistro for takeaway dinner. Many other cafés and restaurants continue to refresh their menus too, with CANTINHO serving family-sized house-made meals and CRU Bar + Cellar offering contactless delivery to name just a few. View the latest.

Easter is Not Cancelled — Our Easter helpers have a few tricks in their basket. We’ve compiled an appetising Easter trail guide featuring Hot Cross Buns from Jocelyn’s ProvisionsCaramel Eggs created in-house by The Nut Market and freshly caught seafood from FreshFishCo. Over the long weekend, trading hours for stores might differ – stay up to date with the latest here.

We wish you and those closest to you a happy, healthy and safe long weekend and look forward to reconnecting with you next week. In the meantime, please tune in to our Instagram and Facebook for regular community updates.
