James St Journal October Part Two

Would you call us food fans or food obsessed? Either way, James St’s food family just grew by one, there are two new dos and a feast for your eyes you should know about. Read on and prepare to eat up.

Coffee and croques are up!

The kiosk in James Lane (near Le Labo) is now home to a gourmet sandwich and coffee crew – James & Antler. Coffee and carbs are their jam with an array of croque madame, monsieur and dolci delights made on-site. Caffeinated sips score special treatment too with canned iced lattes up for the taking – cracking a “cold one” at 7am just became socially acceptable. Visit our newest resident daily from 7am – 2pm.

Thanks SK

Yes, Thanksgiving is typically an “American thing,” but the thought of roast turkey and baked ham with apricot and whiskey glaze in the same setting is almost impossible to pass up. Thankfully, Thanksgiving at SK Steak & Oyster on Thursday 23 November promises a menu filled with traditional pre-Christmas eats – including but not limited to sweet corn biscuits (yeeha!), sweet potato casserole, honey glazed carrots, pancetta brussel sprouts and treacle tart. Bookings are essential here.

Travel to Tulum with Carmen

On Tuesdays Carmen is transporting diners to Tulum for Tulum Tuesdays. Try new pairings every fortnight from their new set menu feast filled with sustainably sourced ingredients. In short, it is an excuse to eat tacos on a Tuesday and eat your way through the Carmen menu one week at a time. The last menu featured fresh guacamole, cheesy charred corn riblets, delectable duck tacos (as promised) and a Tulum Tommy’s Margarita on arrival. Book in your next Tuesday trip here.

Arty party
Studio Gallery is hosting an intimate artist talk on Friday 3 November from 6 – 8pm with Artist Andy Harwood to discuss his latest exhibition, Adjusted Light. The Brisbane based artist is renowned for his colourful paintings that are characterised by the repetition of precise geometric forms and coordinated colour gradients, producing architectonic optical illusions. RSVP to the arty party here or visit the gallery before Friday 17 November to see the show.
