James St Food + Wine Trail 2023

It’s not every day that such an impressive community of culinary leaders’ unite to present a four-day food trail but James St is no ordinary place, so that is exactly what transpired from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 July for James St Food + Wine Trail (JSFWT).

It all began with Trail Days – three days dedicated to profiling new or limited-edition menu items, dance and pizza parties, themed lunches and laneway cook-ups by resident restaurants, bars, cafés and makers. These fast, flavour-filled days featured flaming-good food for every appetite.

The fourth and final day welcomed Market Day, and to say it ended with a mouth-watering bang would be a serious understatement. Over 25,000 hungry attendees descended on James Street which transformed from roadway to gourmet marketplace from Arthur St (At Sixes And Sevens) to Robertson St (Gemelli) and all the leafy properties in between. 34 fancy food and delectable drink stalls hosted by James St’s finest took to the street to serve a market interpretation of ‘their usual.’ Treats were paired with music beats from five stages and alfresco dining settings in the sunshine – we ate, we danced, and we got social in 25-degree winter heat. It was euphoric.
