Imagine you’re walking down the street, minding your own business then, BOOM! There it is, off to the side of the street. It’s on a random store front or window ledge. It’s hanging from a lamp post. It’s sitting on a bench. And it catches your eye because it’s a random, beautiful piece of art in a place where there probably shouldn’t be art. And there’s a tag on it that says: Free art. I’m yours. Take me home” [mic.com]
This is the the newest global art movement – Free Art Fridays, a social media artwork scavenger hunt aiming to bring art back into our lives and out of the traditional gallery.
TWFINEART is working with it’s artists and the global movement to bring the concept to James St. Follow our Instagram, Twitter & Facebook clues and you could be lucky finder! If and when you are the lucky locator, be sure to tag @TWFineArt and @JamesStBNE so we know it’s gone to a good home.
Clay Mahn’s artwork Untitled 2014 is the first gorgeous piece up for grabs!
Mahn’s paintings utilize pattern and repetition to emphasize visual effects and compositional simplicity. By fracturing basic shapes and structures these works achieve a peculiarity that makes them familiar yet unexpected. Nodding to optical-art practices, these simple disturbances offer impressions of space and movement, shifting the two-dimensional plane into a dynamic state. Clay lives and works in Portland Oregon.
So what are you waiting for? Get going! There’s FREE ART OUT THERE TO BE CLAIMED!
