IMA Disco!

Join Art on James partner IMA for a disco party!

Each year the IMA celebrates the support of our community at our Annual Party. But this year our Annual Party is a little different—it’s themed! Dress up as an artist, artwork, or come as yourself. Our esteemed judging panel, featuring Gail Sorronda, Dirk Yates and Carl Dempster, will be dishing out prizes for the best dressed thanks to Newstead Brewing Co. and our other sponsors.

The party is FREE and IMA Members, IMA Friends, and Gallery Supporters can enjoy a complimentary beverage from MadfishNewstead Brewing Co., and Splitrock/Tiro on arrival. Ben’s Burgerswill also be on hand to keep you well fed. 

It will be an evening full of excitement with the unveiling of the new IMA Courtyard Commission,Corps à Corps, created by Céline Condorelli with Pete Shields and Dirk Yates. The project is a co-commission with 11th Gwangju Biennale, with the support of the Keir Foundation and the Australian Government, Department of Communications and the Arts through Catalyst.

The recipient of the Jeremy Hynes Award 2017 will also be announced by Professor Susan Best. The Jeremy Hynes Award is the IMA’s bi-annual award supporting emerging experimental Queensland artists, made possible by a generous bequest made by the family of Jeremy Hynes in his name. Shortlisted artists are Naomi BlacklockMichael CandyLucy Forsberg, and Elizabeth Willing.
